Paul Revere's Ride

This lantern is at the Concord Museum in Concord, Massachusetts.
Revere called his signal lights "lanthorns".
This one hung in the steeple of Christ Church,
the Old North Church, Boston's tallest building, as a signal.
This signal of two lanterns burning told the Charleston Whigs that the British
were leaving Boston by boat across the Back Bay to Cambridge.
The best, most researched and most interesting account
of Paul Revere's Ride is in the book:
Paul Revere's Ride by David Hacket Fischer, Oxford University Press, 1994.
Paul Revere was not alone in his ride.
