Our Role

Parents drove us from our school to the Estabrook School, where we acted out the Battle Of Lexington with Ms Sack's class. We took parts of the real people who were in that battle. Jonthan's mother also took a part.

(You can see our script with this page.)

Adults, who like history, also get in role. They practice and do demonstrations all year, but particularly when our town has its famous reenactment on April 19th each year.

One of these Minute Men came to show us his musket, authentically researched clothes, and gun powder. The powder is called black powder and he said it got into everything. The colonists had to clean their guns after they shot them, and it took three minutes to load a musket.

He fired his musket without powder. We could see the flint spark. His musket was very heavy.
