Hastings Family,

The Hastings and Estabrook Family Diversity Bookbag committees have been hard at work to put together a new project for our families. The Diversity Bookbag Project has been funded by the LEF with support from each school's PTA and Anti-Bias Committees. The bags are intended to strengthen connections among our school population and to build an atmosphere of tolerance and respect for cultural, racial, ability and family structure diversity.

At some point during the year, your child(ren) will be bringing home a Diversity Bookbag from his/her classroom. Each class has a special bag filled with books, games, recipes and other activities. The contents were specifically chosen to help show the diverse population we have here at Hastings School. Each student will get to bring the bag home on a Thursday and return it the following Tuesday. Please make sure when it is your turn with the bag that you return it promptly and that all of the contents are in the bag.

We hope you will take the time to explore the bag with your family and do some of the activities. We understand there are many activities in each of these bags, so please choose what is right for your family. A set of books will also be available in the library for check out. We are very excited to share this diversity project with you.
