The day is finally here for children's book author/illustrator Ed Young to visit Maria Hastings School. This week's assembly is devoted to sharing work that was created in the classrooms using the Ed Young Curriculum Guide.
Ms. London leads the school in singing "America the Beautiful".
Mrs. McManus' first grade chants songs about kites and some questions and answers about spring.
Ms. Rademacher's class has been exploring the different media Ed Young uses in his illustrations - water color, collage, pencil, paper cutting and oil pastels. They tried sampling each method by illustrating one object five different ways.
Ms. Berk's fourth graders wrote haiku and illustrated them with water color and Chinese calligraphy.
Ms. Buxton's class performs a skit based on the book Foolish Rabbit's Big Mistake, which was illustrated by Ed Young.
When given the opportunity to address the children, Ed Young pronounces the meeting "the biggest and best school assembly I have ever attended in my whole life!"
