Dear Rachel,
Thank you for contacting us for your class writing project. I appreciate having this opportunity to respond to your letter.
In your letter, you stated that you felt it is not fair that Negro Leagues are not included in video games. I can certainly understand your concern. I wanted to assure you that we have not avoided including these players in our games because of their skin color. While I don't know why many of these players haven't been used in video games, I do know that most game developers choose to promote their games using the current most popular players like our Nintendo 64 game, Major League Baseball: Featuring Ken Griffey Jr.
At this time, I have not heard of any plans to produce a game featuring the Negro League Players. However, you never know what the future may hold. Keep checking our website (www.nintendo.com) and future issues of Nintendo Power magazine for the latest information on current and upcoming games.
I also wanted to let you know that although we don't use the specific ideas we receive, we do track what kinds of products our players would like to see developed. The best way to let us know what games you like is to enter Nintendo Power magazine's Player's Poll contest. Each month, entrants list their five favorite games for each system. The results from the Player's Poll entries are then used to figure out our readers' favorite games.
Thanks again for writing, Rachel.
Sincerely,
NINTENDO OF AMERICA, INC.
