Sargent Camp Trust
By Victoria
How much longer someone asked. About half an hour. the teacher replied. This question arose many times on the way to Sargent Camp. We had waited so long, why did we have to wait any longer. Suddenly Yay everyone screamed. Sargent Camp!
While we were at Sargent Camp we learned lots of trust. in ourselves and in other people. On the ropes course this was very important, as we were hihgh off th e ground. Some people whipped through it easily. Some people got through it with encouragement. And some people got as far as they thought they could and came down.
Other trust activities that we did were the ladder and weeping willows. Weeping willows was were the spotters would stand in a gapless circle around the faller. Then they would do a series of cammands to make sure that everyone was ready. Then the faller would fall, and the spotters would guide them back up to the center and they would fall a different direction. The ladder was when the faller would stand on the first or second rung of a wooden ladder attached to a tree, and the spotters would stand with their arms out in a zipper like pattern. The commands would be called again, and then the faller would fall, and the spotters would catch them.
When you contributed to the success of your group, and you accomplished what you set out to do, then youy feel really good because, not only did you help your group but you helped yourself. When you do that you feel a pure sign of teamwork.
A lot of Sargent Camp evolved around Trust. By the end we learned how to trust each other. Now, that trust continues at school.
