February 14, 2000.   Artist-in-residence David Fichter is presently working with design teams selected from students in the 4th and 5th grades. They are using drawings submitted by all the Hastings students as well as their own to make sketches for a scaled elevation drawing which will be projected onto the lobby wall. This will then be traced onto the wall and then it will be time for everyone to paint!

The theme of the mural is "Story Gardens". The mural will extend around the outside of our library - making a literary theme appropriate. Mural images have been developed from stories and poems that the children have read and discussed in their classrooms.

Stay tuned to keep abreast of upcoming mural news!
Using drawings submitted by Hastings students, fourth and fifth graders brainstorm on how to incorporate all of the creative sketches.
Students need to resize and position the individual drawings to fit together as a whole.
David Fichter provides inspiration for our budding artists!
Drawings are traced onto vellum paper in preparation for transferring to the lobby and library walls.
